Competition Rules

The 2017 Competition is not yet open for entries.

This competition is open to UK and Eire residents only. Any entry that does not conform to the rules will not be entered into the competition. All valid entries will be automatically included in the competition. You won't need to do anything else.

To participate in this competition you must be 12–18 years of age on 31st August 2016: 12–16 in the "School Age" category (School Years 7 to 11) and 17–18 in the "Youth" category (School Years 12 and 13).

The small print

This competition is open to UK and Eire residents only. Any entry that does not conform to the rules will not be entered into the competition. All valid entries will be automatically included in the competition. You won't need to do anything else.

Entries must have a total screen time of between 30 and 120 seconds, including titles and credits. The CND logo CND logo must appear somewhere in your film, vlog or storyboard. You can enter as many films, vlogs and storyboards as you like. All entry notifications must be received by midnight on 31/10/2016. Any entry received after this date will not be included in the competition. Bristol CND will endeavour to ensure that all valid entries are included in the judging, we do not accept liability for entries lost or delayed due to computer system issues.

Winners will be notified by the email address that they provided when entering, so use one that you check regularly. Any entries that do not have a correct email address will not be eligible to win a prize. The decision of the Judges is final and no correspondence can be entered into. The prizes are non transferable and no cash alternative will be offered.

This competition is restricted to films made for entirely non-commercial purposes, by individuals working solely for pleasure. Any sponsorship must be used only to cover production costs and the expenses of the production team and actors, and not for paid assistance from film professionals, either for filming or post-production (apart from the making of copies). If it is discovered, either before or after making any award, that an entry has been offered for sale, used for any other commercial purpose or has otherwise infringed these requirements, the organisers will have the right to disqualify it, revoke the awards and reclaim any prize.

All material used (film, still images, music and sound) must be original or copyright cleared (e.g. appropriate Creative Commons licenses for material not originated by the contestants.)

Prize winners will be required to sign an Affirmation of Eligibility and Liability prior to being awarded their prize: affirmations from entrants in the "School Age" category must be witnessed by a parent or other responsible adult. If we are unable to verify a winner's Affirmation of Eligibility and Liability form, an alternate winner will be selected according to the competition criteria.

Information that has been collected during the course of this contest will not be, sold, traded or distributed in any form.

By entering the Contest, the Contestants:

  • agree to the official rules and the criteria for which the winners will be chosen.
  • agree that Copyright clearance of all material used by the contestants, both sound and picture, is the sole responsibility of the contestants.
  • consent to Bristol CND's use of the content submitted.
  • consent to the use of the winners names and likenesses and any other material supplied by the entrants for publicity purposes.
  • assign the rights to reprint, display, perform or exhibit such materials without limitation and without any additional compensation to the winner or any other party, except where prohibited by law.
  • release Bristol CND, its affiliates, their officers, and agents from any and all liability for any injuries, losses or damages of any kind caused by any prize or resulting from acceptance, possession or use of any prize.
